Empty Delight

I guess I never knew what love meant
This wave of emotion I never knew before
A slice of paradise only a few moments sent
I tasted and, suddenly, will savor no more.

What purpose did this sultry dish serve
When life became so succulent and rich?
Now I have an empty plate didn’t deserve
And an appetite your love no more enrich.

And, worse, what I could not fully taste
Your delicacies so sensuously displayed
Now from my palate so cruelly erased
What would have made me full when laid.

And now your fair fruit so suddenly denied
Showing me how fertile this world's bounty
When you were sensuously by my side
Tasting what have brought me such ecstasy.
