The Greatest Fall

The lowest points only learn through history
Yet, this is how this moment feels
When all you're left with is misery
What worse this time poorly conceals.

It may be worse tomorrow
Than what saddens me today
But so steeped in this living sorrow
Won’t matter if you no longer with me stay.

For there is only so much pain
Beyond it life will inexorably die
And so long as I don’t see you again
What may be more my life does now belie.

When once this world a breathing paradise
For your spirit my senses did enthrall
How far from the rapture of joy to sorrow's cries
The greatest love suffers the greatest fall.
