The Day's Light

I am going to bed closing my eyes
Without you what good is the morning
Or the Rose to the Spring rise
If our love to this new day not dawning?

Then, I must rely on my dream’s account
And hope to find you living there
So, this world without you does not count
Unless it presents something I care.

And dreams poor substitutes for you
When you, in my waking world, will appear
For nothing arouses me more than you
Than when the love we share is here.

It is a struggle, this night, to close my eyes
Knowing that dreams only a respite
I would rather see you when the sun rise
And hold you in the day's new light.
