Forevermore

Time cannot preserve anyone

Only a fleeting memory will do

But takes beauty away in its run

And this is where love proves true.

What love you have should hold it fast

Too soon Time comes to make it gray

And though your love can forever last

The beauty that gave it birth will fade away.

And then you are left with but a memory

Of the Rose whose petals too quickly fell

Where dreams best keep love’s greenery

While here you hope to keep love’s spell.

Then hope romance’s second lasts for all time

So, in that moment you know nothing more

If not there, then let it live in this rhyme

Where your beauty will live forevermore.
