Cruel Irony

My heart stretched too thin to let you in
Even if I wanted to give it a try
This is a battle you can never win
A long as in her arms I might lie.

I know how you feel about me but it cannot be
I cannot let my vision of her go
She's the only one in this world I see
Even if her love I will never know.

So, we are both star-crossed lovers in vain
Never destined for the one we pine
The only emotion to know that of pain
You can't have me and she never mine.

So, it is best you give your love a rest
There is another to take my place
And I learn that with her love never blessed
The only truth the cruel irony we face.
